ELI'S SHORT 2004 SHOW SEASON

Eli Pot of Gold

At the Lower Mainland Dog Fanciers shows he gets 3 Group placings including this Group 1st under judge C. Myers-Egerton

(another "Pot of Gold", which is 100 Loonies, by the way!)

And at the Kiwanis shows in April Eli goes all the way to his third Best in Show under Neil Graves.

Eli BIS #3

We took a few months off because of health problems and to raise Willa's puppies.

In June our first trip in the trailer with all the dogs and the last two of Willa's puppies went to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Eli did very well inspite of temperatures over 30 degrees every day.

Eli Edna Merritt

The following week we were off for a ten day trip to the Interior of BC for 4 shows in Merritt and 3 in Vernon and a rest stop in a nice campsite near Kamloops with our good friends Vaughn and Joy in between.

It was very hot and Pete was not feeling well but Eli still managed 4 Group placings including this First under Edna St. Hilaire.

We always enjoyed the Pacific Kennel Club Shows in July but this year they became extra special. Pete and Eli did well again although Pete had to rest a lot and spent most of the time sitting in the shade.

M Mincey

Group 1st under Marilyn Mincey

(It is obvious in this picture how much weight Pete had lost!)

Another Group 1st under John Rowton

(I'd like to thank both judges for helping to make this very last dog show weekend as enjoyable as possible for Pete).

J Rowton

Little did we know that these were to be Pete's and Eli's last shows. Pete had not been feeling well for some time and had an Ultrasound two days after the shows. He was diagnosed with liver cancer on the 29th of July, my birthday. Although the cake was bought and a party planned none of us felt like celebrating.

Pete went downhill very fast and lost a lot of weight. Even at the Cancer Clinic we were not given any hope. Pete died August 31st, 2004.

My life changed drastically. I had to sell the house and our trailer and move into a suite. I could not keep all the dogs and had to find good homes for most of them.

Eli lived with our handler friends Stewart and Joy in the Interior for a while until he found a good home in Oregon.
